牟晓平，汉族，山东省潍坊市人。陆军大校，著名写意动物画家、艺术活动家。号：垛翁、老垛、老潍县人，堂号：垛拙堂，牟晓平艺术馆馆长、国家一级美术师、国家一级书法师、国家版权局美术作品登记画家、央视书画频道签约艺术家、美术报编委会艺术顾问、国务外交礼品创作画家、入编《国家记忆工程——国家文化记忆艺术杰出人物》数据库画家、加拿大维多利亚皇家艺术学院东方艺术研究中心客座教授。中宣部精神文明建设第十六届“五个一工程”优秀美术作品奖章获得者。（2024）全球艺术联盟授予其“世界和平艺术贡献者”奖章。荣获安徒生（国际）艺术奖（2025）银奖，授予安徒生（国际）艺术奖奖章。作品入编：《中国名家书画收藏指南》蓝皮书（2025版）（中国美术出版社）出版。

Mu Xiaoping, a Han Chinese from Weifang City, Shandong Province, is an Army Colonel and a renowned animal painter and art activist. His artistic pseudonyms include Duoweng, Laoduo, and Laowei County native. His family hall name is Duozhutang. He serves as the Director of Mu Xiaoping Art Museum, National First-Class Artist, National First-Class Calligrapher, National Copyright Bureau Registered Artist for Artworks, CCTV Calligraphy and Painting Channel contracted artist, Art Consultant to the Editorial Committee of Fine Arts Newspaper, State Diplomatic Gift Creation Artist, and has been included in the "National Memory Project —— Outstanding Figures in National Cultural Memory Art" database. He also holds the position of Visiting Professor at the Oriental Art Research Center of Canada’s Royal Academy of Arts. Mu was awarded the Medal for Outstanding Artworks by the 16th "Five Ones Project" under the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee. In 2024, the Global Art Alliance conferred upon him the "World Peace Art Contributor" Medal. He received the Silver Award and Medal for the Hans Christian Andersen (International) Art Award in 2025. His works were published in the Blue Book titled "Collection Guide to Masterpieces of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting" (2025 Edition) by China Fine Arts Publishing House.

《牟晓平的画猫艺术》

牟晓平是当代中国动物画领域极具文化品格和艺术个性的代表性画家。他用新文人画的写意手法画动物尤擅画猫。他的画受哲学思想和传统文化及国画道法影响深厚，艺术语言独到、个性特色突出、另辟蹊径、独树一帜。其画风简扼率真、自然洒脱、阳刚雄渾、大气凝重、精气神兼备。他用笔用墨恣意随心，走质朴、钝拙、老辣、生涩、野逸一路，不喜不媚不甜自成一格。

他在创作中秉承：“有笔墨、有特质、有神韵、有格局、有情怀、有境界、有内涵”这一理念，形成了他的艺术精神和艺术风格。

他以钝拙野逸的风韵把意写与漫写结合起来，独创了“意而漫式”的画法，为其奠定了极具本性特质的基调。

他借鉴清代杰出文学家蒲松龄《聊斋志异》中的“借鬼说事”用于他的“借猫说事”，让他找到了提高画作思想性的抓手。他把探索人生的感悟借用画猫艺术的形式书写出来，使他的作品直指艺术本质。

他注重研究美术史论，始终把学术高度做为自己的心中目标。努力追求自己个体艺术品的唯一性、独创性、稀缺性、排他性、不可复制性和高辨识度。

画猫在中国画的艺术呈现中是个大科目。牟晓平的画猫艺术成就主要体现在三个方面：

一、牟晓平画的『水墨百相』108个猫的肖像图,在着力刻画猫的面部情感表象上做了大量的艺术探索，从唐、宋、元、明、清、到近代无人涉及猫的这个题材，是划时代过百幅画猫肖像图的首创之作，填补了画猫的面部情感表象这方面的空白。

二、牟晓平与国内100多位几乎是顶级的著名艺术家互动，探索独特的以猫为题的书画会友艺术形式并形成作品，这么大的艺术工程规模在国内艺术家活动空间是独一无二的，在“以画会友”这个艺术形式的历史记载中是绝无仅有的。

"Mu Xiaoping’s Cat Painting Art"

Mu Xiaoping is a representative painter with profound cultural character and artistic individuality in the field of contemporary Chinese animal painting. He employs the freehand techniques of new literati painting to depict animals, particularly excelling in cat paintings. His works are deeply influenced by philosophical thought, traditional culture, and the Daoist principles of Chinese painting, featuring unique artistic language, distinctive personality traits, innovative approaches, and a singular style. His painting style is characterized by simplicity, spontaneity, naturalness, boldness, grandeur, and a harmonious blend of essence and spirit. His brushwork and ink application flow freely, embodying simplicity, rusticity, ruggedness, rawness, and wild elegance—neither servile nor sweet, yet forming an independent aesthetic. In his creative practice, he adheres to the philosophy of "having brushwork, distinct characteristics, charm, vision, sentiment, realm, and depth," which has shaped his artistic spirit and style. By integrating expressive sketching with freehand techniques through his rustic and wild charm, he pioneered the "intentional-romantic style" method, establishing a foundation of inherent authenticity. He draws inspiration from Pu Songling’s "borrowing ghosts to tell stories" from *Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio* (a classic Qing Dynasty literary work) for his "borrowing cats to narrate events," finding a means to enhance the ideological depth of his paintings. Through the art form of cat painting, he translates life’s explorations into visual narratives, making his works directly address the essence of art. He emphasizes the study of art history and theory, always pursuing academic excellence as his life goal. He strives for the uniqueness, originality, scarcity, exclusivity, irreproducibility, and high recognizability of his individual artworks. His publications include: "Mu Xiaoping’s Poems on Cat Paintings" published by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Press; "Mu Xiaoping’s Cat Painting Collection"; and "Mu Xiaoping’s Artistic Companionship Works" (Contemporary Chinese Art). The album "New China Art Master-Mu Xiaoping Album" (World Knowledge Pictorial Press, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) was published. The works were selected for publication in the 2021 edition of "China Fine Arts" (a core journal of People’s Fine Arts Publishing House). The 2022 edition of "Chinese Talents Annual: Mu Xiaoping Volume" (published in the biweekly "Chinese Talents" magazine) was included in the major art series publication project "General History of Chinese Art" (China Fine Arts Publishing House) released in 2023. The works were selected for Rong Bao Zhai’s journal: "Outstanding Artists of the New Era: 2023 Special Issue ’New Era Discourse-Contemporary Chinese Painting Symposium’ " (published by Rong Bao Zhai Publishing House). The works were compiled into the 2023 publication celebrating Xiling Seal Engravers ’Society’s 120th anniversary, titled "Prosperous China—— Achievements of Artistic Creation and Cultural Dissemination in the New Era" (Xiling Seal Engravers ’Society Publishing House). Award-winning works were included in the "Striving to Forge New Era Artistic Peaks" —— 16th Spiritual Civilization Construction "Five Ones Project" Outstanding Artworks Collection published by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and received the "Outstanding Artworks Medal" awarded by the Publicity Department. In 2024, he was invited to participate in the "Art and Peace" -the first International Online Biennale of Art Masters and received the "Outstanding Work" trophy. He was also awarded the highest honor by the Global Art Alliance: the "World Peace Art Contributor" Medal. The artistic representation of cats in Chinese painting constitutes a major subject. Mu Xiaoping’s achievements in cat painting art are mainly reflected in three aspects: First, his "Ink Hundred Faces" series of 108 cat portraits demonstrates extensive artistic exploration in depicting facial expressions. This groundbreaking work pioneered over a hundred cat portraits in this genre that had remained unexplored from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing dynasties through modern times, filling the gap in facial expression representation. Second, Mu Xiaoping collaborated with nearly 100 top-tier artists in China to explore a unique calligraphy and painting friendship art form centered on cats, creating works of such scale that it is unparalleled in domestic artistic circles and unprecedented in historical records of "painting-based friendship" art forms. Third, Mu Xiaoping has developed a thematic series dedicated to cat paintings.
